Q: How old do I have to be to get a Tattoo?
A: You must be at least 18 years of age. It is against Texas State law to tattoo a minor (except for specific situations), even with parental consent. To verify age we must see a valid State or Federal Photo ID (i.e. Drivers License, Passport, Military, etc).
Q: Can I get a tattoo or piercing while pregnant or breastfeeding?
A: No. To mitigate risk of infection we will not tattoo/pierce someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.
Q: How much does a tattoo cost?
A: The final price is dependent on size, detail of the design, and the location on the body where it will be placed; rates start at $150 per hour. Smaller pieces will be priced per design. The shop minimum is $100. Cover-ups are $180 per hour.
Q: How can I receive a price quote?
A: The best way to get an accurate price range is to sit down with your artist and discuss your ideas by booking a free consultation. If a face-to-face consultation is not possible, a detailed email with your ideas will be required to begin the process. In order for Old Souls Ink artists to quote your idea, we need to consider the subject, size, placement on the body, detail, etc. You are also welcome to walk into the shop and talk to one of our artists, if they’re available.
Q: What forms of payment are accepted?
A: We accept cash. credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express) and Tap to Pay. No checks.
Q: Do I need to leave a deposit if I decide to schedule a tattoo appointment?
Yes. A $50-$400 deposit is required to make an appointment. Deposits are non-refundable, non-transferable, and will be applied toward the final price of your tattoo.
Q: How do I care for my new tattoo/piercing?
A: Each shop and/or artist has their own preferred methods of aftercare and will discuss that upon completion of your session. However, you will be given a general care instruction sheet when you leave.
Q: How long will it take for my tattoo to heal?
A: The healing process depends on several factors including skin type, environmental conditions, aftercare regimen, etc. It generally takes two (2) weeks to “heal,” but it takes months for the skin to fully regenerate.
Q: Does it hurt?
A: Yes, because the needles cause trauma to the skin and some locations on the body hurt more than others. However, while experiencing pain, your body releases endorphins which act to increase feelings of pleasure/well-being and also to reduce pain and discomfort. So, while it may hurt, many people enjoy it, and it can become addicting!
Q: How should I prepare for my tattoo session?
A: We recommend that you stay hydrated and eat well before you come in. During your session if you start to feel sick, woozy, lightheaded, etc. please ensure you inform your artist immediately. It’s best not to drink alcohol the night before because alcohol thins out the blood and can increase bleeding for up to 24 hours. Blood also dilutes the ink pigments and can affect both the appearance of your tattoo as well as the healing process.
